Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began as journalist for television and radio at the time in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She became Chief White House reporter in 1992 and was also the Chief of the Foreign Affairs department at NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was on the panel at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was the previous chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first reported on at the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on a wide range of interesting stories such as weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. She also visited extensively together with President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
